Could Jelle—and men walking in women’s shows in general—be part of larger trend? It seems so. Earlier this week, designer Charles Harbison also played a gender bending game at his presentation for Harbison, an emerging label that counts Beyoncé as a fan. Three of his models for his womenswear show were dudes, which was especially easy to notice in the presentation format, where the audience can really get up close and personal with a collection. Truthfully, the clothes could have worked for women or men, and as Harbison himself explained after the show: “It’s definitely not about androgyny. My girl isn’t afraid of brogues and blazers. And guys have been opting into the collection’s softer, more voluminous and expressive options. I think that’s quite beautiful. New gender norms.” New norms indeed.
