Harbison: Spring/Summer 2016 at MADE — The Emerging Designer

The one thing that you can always count on from Charles Harbison is color. Bold, unapologetic color. And, in recent seasons, he’s added embellishments into the mix. For spring, his inspiration was a surf story made up of unisex garments, a new route for him that caters to his elevated man and woman. These looks were made up of button-clad slacks and knit color-blocked sweaters that seemed effortless on models and proof that his gender neutral garments work. Going for a more eclectic, bohemian flair, floral print ruffles were placed on everything from shirts to a kimono in addition to a patchwork mix. To no surprise, he brought back his power jacket and vest which he continues to cut with precision. And, while there was a lot to attract the eye like buttons, appliques and lace up treatments on just about every silhouette, it all came together in it’s own, beautiful, harmonious way.
